Places To Visit When You Holiday In Turkey

Are you considering visiting Turkey this year or even next? If you are then you are going to find yourself having a truly memorable holiday. This is a country that has attractions that are not only suitable for children to enjoy but also a great many for adults.

Of course for many people today the reason that they opt to holiday in Turkey is because the wonderful beaches. Plus the large amount of sunshine that one can enjoy when staying in this country. But it is still very much unspoilt unlike other countries such as Spain, Greece or Italy.

When you do visit Turkey although you could actually spend time just relaxing on the beach, it is worth spending time exploring other parts and learn more about the country's history and culture. There are several places that are worth considering visiting during your holiday in Turkey and below we take a look at just a few of them.

Izmir This is known as the birth place of Homer and due to its location of Turkey's Aegean coast you will find that the climate here remains pretty mild throughout the year. Although the temperatures are high you will find that the sea breezes help to temper this down somewhat. This is a very lively city and things are taking place all year round. But between June and July the International Arts Festival takes place and between August and September the International Fair.

Bergama This is where you will find one of the country's finest archaeological sites. If you are prepared to make the walk to the Acropolis on the hill above this very modern town then you are going to be met with an amazing site. Within it you will not just a very impressive theatre but also the remains of a library and truly outstanding altar dedicated to the Greek God Zeus.
